Reviews Blog

As you may know, my website has a reviews section. That section no longer exists. Reviews have now been made into a blog. The advantages of having it on a blog, means that it is searchable, has an archive, has categories, and you can follow the blog. This also means that it is easier for me to write them, which means that more will come out more often. To visit this new blog, go to www.my-happy-life.org/reviews.

New Computer Arrived

As you know, if I could bike 700 kilometers, I would get a new computer. On August 17, 2010 I reached the goal. I finished the challenge 3 weeks, and 5 days early. I had completed my $500.00 Challenge much earlier. On September 2, 2010 the new computers arrived.

It took over an hour to install and configure mine. In the end it all turned out well. I wrote all of this on the day after I got the new computer. My computer has many new and high tech programs. The computer it's self, can hold over 1,000 gigabytes, has 4 gigabytes of ram(random access memory), over 3,000,000 operations per second 2monitors, and windows 7. As for the programs them self, I have Microsoft Office 2010, which I did not even know had come out yet.

My website is created on Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, which is over 5 years old. Now I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, which is the newest software. It got renamed Adobe because Adobe bought Macromedia.

As I have said, the computer has 2 monitors, and windows 7, which turn out to be a great combination. You can drag programs between the 2 screens, as well snap them to places.

Snapping means dragging the window you are using to the left or right of the screens, and then re-sizing them to that half. You can also snap them to the top, which makes it full screen.

Windows 7 also has a speech recognition software on it. This means that the user can tell the computer what to do by literally talking to it. All you have to do is, turn it on, do a tutorial, and then you can use it. You have to do the tutorial to make it work. The computer will get trained to your voice, making it understand you better. You can tell it to do things like open programs, or make a mouse grid, so you can move your cursor with out even touching it. If you have a program like Microsoft Word open, you can dictate to it, so if you talk it types for you. That means you can just read your reports out loud instead of typing them!

Braces

On August 18, 2010 I walked into Wilk&Wilk orthodontist just like I often do. However, usually I am going in to see when I will get braces, but this time I was actual getting them!! When I first came in I had no idea what to expect. When they called my name, they took me to the x-ray room. After taking a few x-rays, they took me into the back. There were rows and rows of chairs most of them filled with kids getting their braces tightened.
The doctors took me over to an empty chair and told me to sit down. One of the doctors(I had 3) noticed that my mom was using her ipad. So for a long time we all sat and talked about the ipads. What a weird thing to happen when you were about to get braces. After a while, they all finished, so they started to work on me.

First they cleaned my teeth with bad tasting grit. Then they put on the first brackets. They would put a little glue on my teeth, put on the bracket, then harden the glue with UV light. To do the front brackets, the put a circle thing in my mouth to keep it open. Before they hardened those brackets though, they needed my orthodontist Dr.Brian Wilk, to check them.
When he came over he saw my moms ipad, so we started talking about them again. He asked me if I had flight control(which I ended up buying a soon as I got home from the orthodontist) and I tried to say no, but I couldn't since I had the thing in my mouth In the end, I got the braces on just fine. They were a little sore for the first couple days, but by the 4th day, which is the day I am writing it, I just post published this, they got better. I only have my front teeth on right now, so on October 21, 2010 I am going to get the bottom teeth on. I will post another post when I get the bottom braces, but until then keep coming back every monday to see what I have posted.
